Climate Lawsuits Are Coming, Gore and Browner Warn
From Politico
Former Vice President Al Gore and White House climate advisor Carol Browner warned that if Congress fails to act on climate change, the courts will step in to regulate greenhouse gases. Citing a recent appeals court decision allowing public-nuisance lawsuits against major polluters, Gore emphasized that the judicial branch is increasingly supporting regulation. He noted the Supreme Court has already ruled that CO2 is a pollutant under the Clean Air Act, giving the EPA authority to mandate reductions. Browner echoed these concerns, stating that court-led regulation is not ideal and that legislative action remains the best path forward.
